Parts of an XRP Minibot
Each XRP bot comes equipped with various parts and peripherals (external device). Click on each term to reveal the definition and more information.

Servo Motor
A servo motor is a motor that allows for precise control of movement, such as angle, speed, or position. In the XRP Minibot, the arm of the minibot is the servo. -
Drive Motors
The XRP Minibot has two geared drive motors with [encoders](/unit4/encoders.html). Drive motors are motors that rotate and control the wheels, allowing the robot to move forward, backwards, or turn. -
Rangefinder Sensor
The XRP Minibot has an ultrasonic rangefinder that measures the distance between the robot and an object using sound waves. -
Reflectance Sensor
A reflectance sensor, is also known as a line following sensor. In the XRP Minibot, it uses infrared light to measure the amount of light reflected from a surface.
